Move To: Vaucluse Published September 28, 2016 Smooth Moves Smoothmoves Content Team SHARE If you delve a little further into the heart of this Sydney gem, there’s a lot more to it than just the exclusivity factor. Vaucluse is a suburb synonymous with amazing harbour, city views and huge harbourside homes. Steeped in heritage, tradition and an abundance of natural beauty, this place has everything: good food, good culture and good views. If you’re moving to Vaucluse, we encourage you to look deep and discover everything this suburb has to offer. A Dose Of The Outdoors There are a plethora of parks and walks on offer in Vaucluse. If you’re looking for wide open spaces to kick a ball around, head to Christison Park perched on the cliff next to Macquarie Lighthouse. Word to the wise; make sure there’s no strong westerly blowing or your ball may end up flying off the cliff into the Pacific. If you’re keen to get closer to the trees and take in some heroic harbour views, meander via the Hermitage Foreshore Walk, ending up in Nielsen Park. Here you can enjoy a bite to eat at the cafe or take a dip at Shark Beach (don’t be put off by the name, there’s a bathing net). A Dose Of Heritage Vaucluse House is a splendid 19th Century mansion surrounded by original gardens and wooded grounds. It became a museum in 1915 and remains so today. This is a great place to pack a picnic and enjoy the beautiful gardens which flow down to the harbour. You can also pay a small entry fee to walk the hallways of the lovingly restored and maintained mansion. School holiday activities are also on offer, a great way for the kids to immerse themselves in the cultural heritage of the suburb and Australia’s colonial history. A Dose Of Caffeine Once you’ve been for a harbourside stroll and poked your nose around the living museum, you’re probably going to be keen for some caffeine. There are plenty of places to grab a cup, including the previously mentioned cafe at Nielsen Park. Another top pick is The Grumpy Baker where you can sip on your espresso before purchasing a loaf of bespoke sourdough to gnaw on for lunch. Smooth Moves Smoothmoves Content Team SHARE
